A left back who rose through the ranks at Bristol City, Golbourne joined Reading on
3 January 2006 after impressive performances in theFA Youth Cup for Bristol City.Golbourne made only one appearance, as a substitute against Stoke City, in his first season with Reading, then joined Wycombe Wanderers on an initial one month loan deal, subsequently extended to three months, on
16 August 2006 . He made 15 league and four cup appearances whilst at Wycombe, scoring one goal, a superb solo effort, against Grimsby Town in his final game for the club, on18 November 2006 .
