Falcon Dam

Falcon Dam is a dam on the Rio Grande in Starr County in the U.S. state of Texas. This dam was built for conservation, irrigation, Hydroelectric generating plant, flood control, and recreational purposes and as an international border crossing between Zapata and Starr Counties and Nueva Ciudad Guerrero, Tamaulipas, Mexico. The dam construction ended in October 1953 and was dedicated by Mexican President Adolfo Ruiz Cortines and President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Park

On the shores of Falcon lake, wild olive, wild oregano, hibiscus, mesquite thickets, huisache and prickly pear cactus give refuge to roadrunners, javelina, deer and jackrabbits, While park visitors enjoy the scenic views and abundant wildlife, they can kick back at this peaceful retreat while park hosts organize a variety of activities. The world-class bass fishing draws anglers from across the state to the convert|98960|acre|km2|sing=on lakeFalcon State Park is convert|572.6|acre|km2 located between Falcon Heights, Texas and Nueva Ciudad Guerrero, Tamaulipas and is the southern end of a convert|98960|acre|km2|sing=on International Falcon Reservoir. the parks main activities include camping, swimming, fishing, water skiing, and boating and a self-guided nature trail.
