Konfyt is the Afrikaans word for jam, and is also a
savoury preserve almost comparable toTurkish Delight , but with a firmer texture, and a stronger taste. The slices are also of a more random shape and thickness. It is made by boiling a local melon, and gradually adding ginger and sugar. [http://www.brunsdon.co.za/humour/survive.asp]
