dory , in the genus "Zenion", found aroundSouth Africa , southernAustralia , andNew Zealand , over the continental shelf at depths of between 350 and 700 m. Its length is between 10 and 16 cm.The elongate dory is a small slender fish, with disproportionately large eyes which take up most of the space between the snout and the operculum, and are one fifth of the fishes entire length. Its
fin s are moderately sized, the firstdorsal fin having strong black-tipped spines but not great length as in thejohn dory .The body is silvery with a red sheen. They are an uncommon species.
