Kaushalya (Sanskrit: कौशल्या, kauśalyā), in the Hindu epic "Rāmāyaṇa", was the eldest [ [http://www.valmikiramayan.net/bala/sarga16/bala_16_prose.htm Valmiki Ramayana - Bala Kanda] ] of King Daśaratha's three wives and a queen of Ayodhyā, she was the daughter of the King of Kosala Kingdom. She was the mother of Rāma.
