continuous truss bridge which crosses theOhio River betweenMonaca, Pennsylvania andRochester, Pennsylvania . It opened in 1986 and is the third bridge to occupy the site. It replaced a 1930 steel trusscantilever bridge which itself replaced asuspension bridge built in 1896.The bridge is also called the Rochester-Monaca Bridge; since 1987, the bridge is named each year in honor of the winner of the Rochester vs. Monaca high school football game. With Monaca's recent victory over Rochester [ [http://post-gazette.com/pg/07300/829068-365.stm WPIAL Class A Roundup: Monaca spans Rochester in the 'Battle of the Bridge' ] ] , the bridge will be known as the Monaca-Rochester Bridge, snapping a four-game losing streak against Rochester in the process.
