List of United States House of Representatives elections, 1814-1834
- List of United States House of Representatives elections, 1814-1834
This provides a summary of the results of elections to the United States House of Representatives from the elections held in 1814 to 1834. For more detailed results of each election, see the main page for that election. Information about the popular vote in early elections is not available as records of the popular vote were not kept. Parties with a majority in the House of Representatives are shown in bold.
1 Varyingly referred to as the Republicans,
Jeffersonian Republicans and Democratic-Republicans, this party is not to be confused with the modern
Republican Party and is a forerunner of the modern
Democratic Party.
2 Initially called the "Adams" as supporters of
John Quincy Adams, they would later become known as the
Whig Party.
3 The Jacksonians and Anti-Jacksonians were two factions of the Democratic-Republican Party that parted ways in 1824. Each Democratic-Republican member of Congress chose an allegiance before the 1824 election was held, so changes only indicate seats gained by each faction during that election.
4 The Nullifiers had no formal party organization.
