- Société Jersiaise
La Société Jersiaise is a scholarly society and pressure group in
Jersey which was founded in1873 , it promotes and encourages:* The study of the history, the archaeology, the natural history, the language and many other subjects of interest in the Island of Jersey
* The works of theJersey Heritage Trust and theJersey Museums Service , and the provision of information and voluntary helpers
* The conservation of the Island's natural environment
* The preservation of Jersey's historical buildings and monuments
* The publication of books and articles on topics of local interest
* Exhibitions and displays of work
* The collection of artefacts, books, paintings, photographs and maps of the Island
* Through the Barreau Art Scholarship the encouragement of contemporary art by young IslandersMr Anthony said that the Société, which has over 3,500 members, will continue to campaign against perceived threats to Jersey's built and natural environment.
