Robert J. Art

Robert J. Art is an American Foreign Policy and International Relations scholar at Brandeis University. Robert Art subscribes to the theory of "neo-realism," which argues that force still underlies the power structure in the modern world. He regularly is invited to consult and lecture to armed services in the US and abroad, in addition to his normal responsibilities as a writer and professor.Fact|date=October 2007

Awards and Positions

In 2004, Art was a finalist for the Arthur B. Ross Award of the Council on Foreign Relations for bookof the year in International Relations, for "A Grand Strategy for America," and in 2006 was given the Distinguished Scholar Award: International Security Studies Section, by the International StudiesAssociation. This is a lifetime achievement award given to and individual who has made exceptional contributions to scholarship and learning in the field of international studies and security.

From 2002-2003, he worked as a consultant to the Central Intelligence Agency.Fact|date=October 2007 Currently, he holds several positions, including the Christian A. Herter Professor of International Relations at Brandeis University, as a Research Associate at the Olin Institute for Strategic Studies, Center for International Affairs, Harvard University and as a Senior Fellow in the Security Studies Program at M.I.T.Fact|date=October 2007
