Ibrahim Mohammad Bahr al-Ulloum (born
1954 ) served as theIraq i Minister of Oil from May2005 until December 2005, while he was a member of theIslamic Virtue Party [http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/n/a/2006/05/12/international/i003845D31.DTL&type=printable] . He had also previously served in this position as part of the cabinet appointed by theInterim Iraq Governing Council in September2003 untilJune 2004 . AShia Muslim, al-Ulloum is the son of Shia clericMohammad Bahr al-Ulloum . Ulloum is an Iraqi from Holy City of Najaf.Ulloum was educated in the
United States , [http://www.nmt.edu/mainpage/news/2003/24sept01.html earning a Ph.D.] in petroleum engineering from theNew Mexico Tech ; he later worked for the Kuwaiti oil ministry, for thePetroleum Recovery Research Center in New Mexico, and as an independent consultant inLondon (from1992 to 2003).Ulloum ran for parliament by forming his own, Future Iraq Grouping, independent political group but failed to receive a single seat in 2005 December's election.
Ulloum survived an assassination attempt in Iraq on
2003-10-12 , and another on2005-09-02 .References
