- Sacred Space
Sacred Space is a
prayer website which has achieved considerable fame since its foundation in 1999. It was created by two members of the Jesuit order, Alan McGuckian SJ and Peter Scally SJ, and was managed by the Jesuit Communication Centre,Dublin ,Ireland , until June 2008. It is now being maintained and developed by a dedicated Sacred Space office at 36 Lower Leeson Street, Dublin. The site is updated daily, guiding users through a ten-minute session ofprayer centered on a passage ofscripture .Fame
Sacred Space attracts over five million visits annually. Most of this traffic has been engendered by word of mouth. The website is now produced in some twenty
language s.Another indicator of the impact of Sacred Space is that it is one of the top search results returned by
Google for the search term "prayer". This level of interest led an Australian publishing house, Michelle Anderson Publishing, to approach the Jesuit Communication Centre about bringing out a hard-copy version of the daily prayers. Currently, two other publishers of religious books, [http://www.avemariapress.com Ave Maria Press] and Veritas, also bring out annual volumes of "Sacred Space - The Prayer Book".External links
