Revolutionary Party for Reunification (RPR), now known as the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front (AINDF), is an underground South Korean organization that is called a socialist political party by North Korea and a pro-communist spy group by the South.
Aims
The AINDF is guided in its activities by the Juche idea. It aims to carry out a revolution in South Korea, achieve independence by removing the United States' troops and bases, and the reunification of South Korea and North Korea.
Founding
The organization assumed its current name on March 23, 2005. The group had been known as the National Democratic Front of South Korea from July 27, 1985. It was originally founded as the Revolutionary Party for Reunification on August 25, 1969.
History
The history of the AINDF goes back to 1964 when a preparatory committee to form the Revolutionary Party for Reunification was set up. It declared its existence in 1969. Its leaders were Kim Jong Tae and Choi Yong Do. Both were executed by the government of Park Chung Hee along with other leaders of the partyFact|date=February 2007; more members of the party were sentenced to long prison terms. In 1985 it merged with the Strategic Liberation Party of South Korea, and changed its name to the National Democratic Front of South Korea.
