"Secret Smile" is a song by the alternative rock band Semisonic released in 1999.
It quickly became a UK radio favourite in the summer of 1999, eventually peaking at #13 on the official UK Singles Chart. It is still played (as of 2006) regularly on local radio stations and is a popular request, especially on romantically themed shows.
The music video features Dan and a Japanese actress playing with a video camera. The paparazzi then arrive and the couple make a run for it. The video was shot in February 1998 and was directed by British music video director, Sophie Muller.
The song is closely associated by fans of St. Mirren FC with the clubs Scottish Football League First Division winning side of 2000. It still features heavily in video montages of that season.
