Boston Modern Orchestra Project

Boston Modern Orchestra Project

The Boston Modern Orchestra Project (BMOP) was formed by artistic director Gil Rose in 1996 as a full professional orchestra in Boston, Massachusetts dedicated to performing and recording orchestral music of the last century, and frequently gives world premieres of orchestral works by living composers. BMOP generally performs 4-6 concerts each year, mostly in Boston but also at Tanglewood and in New York City, and hosts a series of smaller "Club Concerts" featuring individual performers. BMOP has become the Affiliate Orchestra of the New England Conservatory; its concerts at the conservatory's Jordan Hall are free to all students at the conservatory.

BMOP has won eight ASCAP awards for adventurous programming, and has released CDs featuring work by Stephen Paulus, Steven Mackey, Bernard Rands, Reza Vali, Lee Hyla, Arthur Berger, Larry Thomas Bell, George Rochberg, Eric Chasalow, Lukas Foss, and Tod Machover.
