1998 Memorial Cup occurredMay 9 -17 at theSpokane Veterans Memorial Arena inSpokane, Washington . Participating teams were the hostSpokane Chiefs and the winners of theOntario Hockey League ,Quebec Major Junior Hockey League andWestern Hockey League which were theGuelph Storm ,Val-d'Or Foreurs andPortland Winter Hawks . The Winter Hawks won their second Memorial Cup in overtime, defeating the Storm.The tournament set a new Memorial Cup attendance record. However, that record was broken the following year in
