Het Volkske

"Het Volkske" (English: "The Small 'Het Volk"') was the weekly children's supplement of the Flemish newspaper Het Volk ("The People"). The supplement appears every Wednesday as this is the day schools in Flanders close at noon (as opposed to 4 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays). Next to a letters page and a series of articles on music, movies and other subjects that might interest schoolchildren, the supplement also has a special children's news section where current events are explained in simple language.

For many children however the most important part of the paper are the comics, of which at least half a dozen are printed in one-page installments every issue.
