- Berkeley Free Clinic
The Berkeley Free Clinic is a nonprofit community clinic located in
Berkeley, California . It is operated as a worker-run collective by over a hundredvolunteer s who annually donate over 50,000 hours of their time. It has provided services free of charge to the Berkeley community and the East Bay since 1969.It is located at 2339 Durant Avenue.
Some of its services are dental care, acute primary medical care,
hepatitis testing and vaccination,HIV testing, information and referrals, men's STD screening, and STD testing and treatment.The Peer Counseling Collective section of the clinic offers free drop-in or long-term one-on-one peer counseling provided by lay volunteers trained in active listening skills. The counseling model is based on the work of
