World champ =Euan Henderson is a retired Scottish professional
snooker player. In his twelve year professional career he reached only one ranking final, in the 1996 Grand Prix albeit without beating any of the game's established leading players, although his 6-3 semi-final win over Welsh veteran Mark Bennett (who had knocked out several of the game's big names - includingChris Small ,Peter Ebdon ,Steve Davis andTony Drago en route to the semi-final stage) did see him take out that tournament's in-form player; however,Mark J. Williams proved too strong for the Scot in the final, and Henderson - who took the opening frame and also led 3-2 at one point - succumbed 9-5 to the Welshman. This tournament, besides featuring two surprise semi-finalists in Henderson and Bennett, made headlines because many of the pre-tournament favourites (including reigning six-times world champion and world No.1Stephen Hendry , and alsoRonnie O'Sullivan ,John Higgins ,Peter Ebdon andNigel Bond ) were all knocked out in the first round.Following this promising result, Henderson's career quickly fell into decline. He only qualified for the World Championship once, also in 1996, losing 10-9 to
Jimmy White - he scored more points than White, making him the first player to have scored more points than he conceded without winning a match [http://www.thesnookerforum.com/board/showthread.php?t=6776] , a record later equalled byAnthony Hamilton in 1999.After retiring from the game in 2003 Henderson became a police officer. He was best man at fellow former player
Chris Small 's wedding.External links
