Kingskerswell is a village located in Devon, England. It is situated between Torquay and Newton Abbot and the main road (the A380) between the two runs through the village.

About the village

In 2001 the population of Kingskerswell was 4799. The village also has a very active Scout group with their own Headquarters on Dobbin Arch.Kingskerswell is twinned with the German town of Lonsee.

History

The Aller Vale Pottery was formed in the village in 1865. It started producing art pottery in 1881 and continued until 1962. At the end of the 19th century Aller Vale Art Pottery was stocked by Liberty & Co in London. Religion

There are six churches in the village: Anglican, Catholic, Community, Gospel Hall, Methodist and United Reformed. The 14th century Anglican Church of St Mary is one of only 52 known to display an image of Saint Apollonia.

The Kingskerswell Bypass

The Kingskerswell Bypass is a plan by Devon County Council to alleviate traffic on the A380 running through the village. Plans for the bypass have been around since the 1950's. In February 2007, the provisional timescale indicated that the contract for building the bypass could be awarded in 2009.
