USS Constellation (CC-2)

USS "Constellation" (CC-2) would have been the third ship of that name in the United States Navy, but was canceled prior to completion.

A Sclass|Lexington|battlecruiser, her keel was laid at Newport News, Virginia, in August 1920, but the class was cancelled in 1923 by the Washington Naval Treaty of 1922. USS|Saratoga|CV-3|2 was selected for conversion to aircraft carrier over "Constellation" since she was further along in construction. "Constellation's" uncompleted hull was subsequently scrapped.
