genus oftheropod dinosaur known from the MiddleJurassic period ofEngland , 150 million years ago. Originally described as a crocodilian, five species have been named, several of which (including "S. recentior", "S. meyeri", and "S. grandis") may belong to "Iguanodon ". At least one species ("S. cuvieri") may actually be amegalosauroid theropod , similar to "Eustreptospondylus ".The
type species , "S. altdorfensis", was described byChristian Erich Hermann von Meyer in 1832.References
