- Nordenskjold Outcrops
Nordenskjold Outcrops (coord|64|27|S|58|58|W|) is a rock outcrops on the west side of
Longing Peninsula at the northeast end ofNordenskjold Coast . The feature extends south for 2mile s (3.2 km) from the vicinity ofLonging Gap and is the type locality for the geologicNordenskjold Formation . Named by theUnited Kingdom Antarctic Place-Names Committee (UK-APC) followingBritish Antarctic Survey (BAS) geological work, 1987-88, afterOtto Nordenskiöld , leader of theSwedish Antarctic Expedition , 1901-04, who explored this coast in 1902.
