List of Sapphire & Steel television stories

This is a list of all "Sapphire & Steel television stories". Each story consists of several, untitled 25-minute episodes.

The overall titles used for each story are unofficial, and derive from an episode guide in the 1980s fanzine "Time Screen". Each has several potential alternatives, but the "Time Screen" titles are the best-known and were used on the packaging of A&E's DVD release of the series in 2005. These titles remain controversial; it is argued that, in some cases, the titles spoil the twists of each story.

The British VHS release of the series names the serials as "Adventure 1" through "6", while the DVD releases replace the word "Adventure" with "Assignment". The North American DVD release calls each an "Assignment" on the packaging but "Adventure" on the DVD, and titles each story as stated below.

Episode list

Regular stars were David McCallum as Steel and Joanna Lumley as Sapphire. Supporting players and guest stars are listed per serial.

Notes

1. The first transmission of Adventure 2 was interrupted after Episode 4 by an ITV technicians' strike, which resulted in the networks being blacked out from August 10 to October 19 1979. The whole story was shown when the strike was resolved and the service resumed – thus repeating Episodes 1-07 to 1-10 (which is, to date, the only UK terrestrial rerun of any episodes of the series).

2. Many regional editions of "TVTimes" wrongly billed Adventure 6 as a repeat. This was possibly due to confusion caused by the changeover from ATV to Central on January 1 1982, when an unprecedented ITV auction in 1980 resulted in the Midlands' ITV region's franchise going from the first company to the second.
