Len Kawell is an engineer and entrepreneur who once worked at
Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC), where he was one of the designers of the VAX/VMSoperating system . He also played a key role in the development of theMicroVAX computer,VAX Notes , andVMC Mail . Much like DEC co-foundersHarlan Anderson andKen Olsen , Kawell graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree incomputer science .Kawell was co-founder and president of
Glassbook, Inc. , and was eventually acquired byAdobe . The company developed PDF-based e-book reading software. He was also one of the co-founders ofIris Associates , where he co-designedLotus Notes , the first commercialgroupware product. He would later go on to become the founder ofPepper Computer , where he serves asChief Executive Officer . The company is based inLexington, Massachusetts , and is the developer of thePepper Pad internet appliance/game console .External links
