Parts of these surrounding areas are also sometimes referred to as being in Dorcan (such as Eldene Shopping Centre which uses Dorcan in its address). It is the site of the Dorcan Industrial Estate which includes the UK Headquarters of Tyco Electronics and offices ofNpower (UK) , Equiinet, MMG MagDev, Romec,House of Fraser (information systems), theRoyal Mail sorting office and buildings owned by Woolworths. The pharmaceutical companyPatheon also has a large facility here.:Dorcan Technology College (Formerly Dorcan Comprehensive School) is also in this area, providing the locality with sports facilities, notable as it is the school attended byMelinda Messenger and actorMark Lawrence (from the seriesBand of Brothers ).
