Broadwater School

Broadwater School is a state, secondary Specialist Mathematics and Computing College in Farncombe, near Godalming, Surrey, England. It has been a mixed comprehensive school since 1970, and now has approximately 600 students aged 11-16 years. Its facilities extend over four floors and takes students from year 7 to year 11 (the GCSE year)

Mission Statement

Broadwater School aims to provide aids to all student:
*An environment in which all individuals succeed
*Opportunities to help individuals to take responsibility for their own learning
*The abilities so that individuals can meet the challenges of a changing world
*A community where an individual's needs and strengths are recognised
*A community where there is mutual respect and value for the individual
*A safe, challenging and stimulating environment for learning
*A centre of learning for the students, staff and local community
*Additional curricular opportunities and wider partnerships involving maths and computing

House system

There are three house: Pegasus, Aquila and Phoenix. Each house has tutor groups with students from the five school years.

The Head of Houses are:
*Phoenix - Mr Le Brun & Miss Eves (Replacing Mr.Fisher)
*Pegasus - Mrs. Loosely,
*Aquila - Miss Lane.

Broadwater as a Community Resource

The facilities of Broadwater School are extensively used by the local community. They are the home base for the Guildford Hockey Club, the Premier Division hockey team, whose Clubhouse is located on the school site. The floodlit all-weather pitch and Netball and Tennis facilities, pitches, gymnasium and sports hall are also used. Classrooms, assembly hall and the specialist facilities such as the technology and food rooms are used for adult education as well as for private functions. They are also a hive of musical activity, being the main centre for the South West Surrey Music Centre.

Broadwater are building a new wildlife area shortly once a grant comes through next to the lower school playground. It is going to be used to the community as well.

Rival

There is a degree of competition and rivalry between Broadwater and the other local state secondary school, Rodborough Technology College
