Paul Cartledge is a Professor of Greek History at
Cambridge University , and a fellow ofClare College . A world expert onAthens andSparta in the Classical Age, he has been described as aLaconophile . He was chief historical consultant for theBBC TV series "The Greeks" and the Channel 4 series "The Spartans", presented byBettany Hughes .Cartledge completed his doctoral thesis in Spartan
archaeology at Oxford in 1975. His thesis advisor was Professor Sir John Boardman.Bibliography
