= History =

. Since that time the organization has developed quite a bit with the addition of a [http://cws.met.psu.edu website] in 1999 and the development of a Severe Weather Committee.

Current Services

The Campus Weather Service at Penn State currently serves over 10 clients in the Pennsylvania region and is the largest student run weather service in the country. Radio forecasts are generated by shifts of up to 10 students four times a day during the week, and twice on weekends. These forecasts are then distributed to various radio stations in the region for broadcast either in MP3 format or by phone. A daily weather forecast is also produced for the campus newspaper The Daily Collegian. Video shifts produce video forecasts for the local CNET channel as well as the introductory Meteorology course.

Statistics

The organization currently has well over 100 members covering the 5 main branches; Radio, Video, Daily Collegian, Web, and Severe Weather. CWS also runs continuously during breaks, providing weather for clients 365 days a year.
