Gay Olympics

Gay Olympics

Gay Olympics refers to the originally named Gay Olympics held in San Francisco in 1982 under the leadership of Tom Waddell. The organizers were sued by the Olympic committee to prohibit future use of the world "Olympic" so that event was renamed the Gay Games. The phrase is now widely used for any of the international multi-sport competitions where LGBT competitors compete openly, against others who may or may not also be homosexual.
