It was the ruling party in Monaco from the 1960s to the 2003, when it lost to the Union for Monaco led by Stéphane Valeri - it lost 21 seats of the 24 it held (it had won all seats in the 1998 elections). In the elections of 2003 it changed its name to "Rassemblement pour Monaco" (RPM) and in 2008 it unified with "Valeurs & Enjeux" to become "Rassemblement et Enjeux pour Monaco" (REM), but it lost again to UPM that maintained its 21 seats.
