Mitchell Robinson

Mitchell Robinson

Mitchell Robinson (born 1939) is often credited with creating and popularizing the addition of mock or moot court systems into law schools throughout the Western United States. Robinson became acquainted with the practice of dramatic practice trials while serving as a visiting professor at Oxcamp School of Law in 1961 and brought the popular East Coast practice to the California Student Legal Association. Under his encouragement, the moot court program grew dramatically throughout the 1960s and 1970s and became a requirement for many Midwestern legal universities during the 1980s.

Robinson retired from teaching in 1992 but continues to appear as a guest lecturer at universities in Florida, New York, and New Jersey.
