Graham Smorgon is a prominent Australian businessman and a member of the Smorgon family - one of Australia's wealthiest and most powerful and influential families.

He has chaired numerous organisations, including currently holding the chair at Smorgon Steel.

Carlton Football Club presidency

In 2006 Smorgon took over the presidency of the Carlton Football Club. At the same time his cousin David was president of the Western Bulldogs. He held this position for only nine-month stay with the club.

Smorgon was voted out of the presidency on February 2, 2007 amidst claims of election fixing, board disputes and a turmoil ridden period for the club. During the heated election campaign, Smorgon attacked potential challenger Tom Elliot, stating that he would be unlikely to be successful due to his surname. While Tom Elliot, as the son of former president John Elliot, certainly carried some baggage from his father's reign as President, many questioned the tactics employed by Smorgon against him.
