Andreas Ihle

Andreas Ihle (born June 2, 1979 in Bad Dürrenberg) is an athlete from Germany who competes in flatwater canoeing.

Ihle was a K-2 kayak 1000m world junior champion in Lahti, Finland, in 1997, with partner Marco Herszel. He won his first senior title as a member of Germany's four-man (K-4) 1000m crew which won world championship gold in 2001. In 2004 he won a silver medal at the Athens Olympics in the same event.

For the 2005 season he renewed his K-2 partnership with Marco Herszel, replacing Jan Schäfer. They won 1000m bronze medal at the European championships in Poznań and then went on to take the silver at the 2005 World Championships in Zagreb.

In 2006 Ihle had a new partner, Rupert Wagner. The pair started the season impressively with wins in Poznań and Duisburg. They went on to win K2 1000m silver medals at the European and world championships, finishing behind Hungarians Zoltan Kammerer and Gabor Kucsera on both occasions.

Ihle is a member of the Magdeburg club. He is 1.84 m / 6'0 tall and weighs 78 kg / 172 lbs.
