Miss Intercontinental

Miss Intercontinental began in 1971 but it started officially as the Miss Teenage Intercontinental beauty pageant in 1973. The pageant was organized by Rene Lacle.

#* Its name was changed to Miss Teen Intercontinental in 1979.

#* It was started in 1986 in Lagos, Nigeria.

#* In 1989 winner from Nigeria resigned and title awarded to first runner-up from Dominican Rep.
#* In 1991, there were two contests: by Nigerian and Aruban organizers.
#* It was discontinued in 1992.

2001 to Date

Although Miss Intercontinental is sometimes claimed to be one to the top Grand Slam pageants in the world, it remains a low level pageant that struggles to find delegates and host countries to make it a world class pageant as the name suggest, it also suffers from claims over who actually owns the trademark Miss Intercontinental, WBO claims to own in in Europe but another company claims to own it in China.
