Battle of the Somme (disambiguation)
- Battle of the Somme (disambiguation)
Battle of the Somme commonly refers to the major Anglo-French offensive in "1916" during World War I; however, the postwar Battles Nomenclature Committee divided this campaign into a series of battles (listed in the article above). According to official nomenclature, two other offensives during the last year of World War I, "1918", also use this name:
* the First Battle of the Somme (1918), the British name for the German offensive codenamed Operation "Michael;"
* the Second Battle of the Somme (1918), the second phase of the final British offensive of the war (the "Hundred Days" offensive).
