ATV has become a household name and point of professional reference in Hungary. Broadcast time is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and the focus of programming is news, public life, current events. Licensed as a partially public service commercial television station, it is obliged to broadcasting
public interest programs (news , current affairs,sports ,religion ) 50% of the time. Because of this special status, the channel is eligible to apply for grants from the government and the radio and television authority.Broadcast Coverage

Programming is broadcast via cable and satellite as well as microwave in a 20km vicinity of Budapest. The Amos 1 satellite provides reception of Magyar ATV since February 23, 2000, all over Eastern Europe as well as the Middle East. Reception is not encrypted. Since Magyar ATV is a partially public service channel, cable companies in Hungary are obliged to put it in their basic packages. The most popular satellite and cable provider, UPC Direct (Astra satellite), has positioned Magyar ATV as the fifth channel in their basic family package since December 6, 2001.
Broadcast language is Hungarian. There is a large number of viewers abroad, especially in neighboring countries with large Hungarian minorities: Romania, Slovakia, the Ukraine, Serbia, Croatia, and Austria. Practically all cable companies include Magyar ATV in their packages in Transylvania. The next largest group of Hungarian viewers abroad watches the station in Israel. There are millions of Hungarian-speaking non-EU citizens outside Hungary who access the channel.
Magyar ATV may be watched live on the Internet. The outstanding archives of past broadcasts are regularly downloaded from the website www.atv.hu for reference and information.
Also, as of November, 2003, Magyar ATV is available live via certain mobile phones in Real AudioŽ streaming.
Audience
The targeted viewers are active members of society, who are of a higher social status, representatives of traditional values, who influence public opinion, who tend to avoid modern mass culture, who demand comprehensive, detailed analysis. They are people who are aware of and interested in the events surrounding them, they have their opinion about the world and feel responsibility to act. Although objectivity is one of the channel's primary principles, many people think the channel supports the
