"Lady Lynda" is a song written by vocalist and guitarist Alan Jardine and Ron Altbach for the American pop band The Beach Boys. It was released on their 1979 album "L.A. (Light Album)".

The music is derived from Johann Sebastian Bach's composition Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring, with the opening harpsichord part being play by Sterling Smith. [http://www.cabinessence.net/tracks/files/l/lady_lynda.shtml] The lyrics to the song refer to Jardine's then-wife, Lynda Jardine. After the two divored, the song was rewritten as "Lady Liberty", a tribute to the Statue of Liberty.

The song hit #7 in the United Kingdom charts, although it was bereft of the harpsichord opening that was an important part in the album version. It also reached #39 on the US adult contemporary chart.
