Yenikoy (common name "Yenikoy Koyu", pop. 780 in 2000) is a small village (30.000km²) in the Region of
Afyonkarahisar inTurkey . It is traditionalAnatolian village. Its local government is a Muhtarlik. The head of Local Government is "Abdil Koc" (as of 2006)History
The village was established by Turkish emigrants from
Republic ofNagorno-Karabagh ; they were emigrated in theOttoman Empire time and lived first inDavulga . After movings Sons of Alhan to valley of Yenikoy. Became yenikoy as a town.Yenikoy was home for many Greek people to 1920s. In
1924 following the dramatic events in the War ofMinor Asia , Greek people fled their village and came to stay inKondariotissa , a town inPieria municipality inCentral Macedonia , Greece. There a memorial sculpture was erected in the square of a part of the village, concerning the immigration of Greeks from Yenikoy (Νεοχώρι Χηλής in Greek) to Kondariotissa.It is notable that although more than 80 years have gone by since the immigration, a lot of people in Kondariotissa visit Yenikoy and are met with the friendship and hospitability of the residents and the local authorities of the turkish town.
