- Treaty of Plussa
The Treaty of Plussa ( _ru. Плюсское перемирие 1583) was in fact a
truce between Russia and Sweden, which ended theLivonian War of1558 -1583 . The truce was signed at a location on thePlussa River , in thePskov region and intended for three years, after which it was extended in1585 -1586 . According to this truce, Sweden kept the annexed Russian towns ofIvangorod (Ivanslott),Jamburg ,Koporye (Kaprio), andKorela (Kexholm/Käkisalmi) with theiruyezd s, holding control over Ingria. Russia kept a narrow passage to theBaltic Sea at theestuary of theNeva River , between the rivers of Strelka and Sestra.Upon the expiration of the truce in
1590 , Russia resumed the war against Sweden to retrieveNarva and other Baltic lands, annexed by the Swedes. Beginning in1593 , Russia and Sweden resumed peace negotiations, which would last for two years. Finally, the two countries signed theTreaty of Tyavzino (Teusina) in1595 .Sweden regained control over Ingria by the
