Meribeth Burton

Meribeth Burton is a Canadian journalist, best known for her work as a television news anchor and reporter. She was a Senior Reporter and back-up anchor at CIVI-TV (A-Channel Vancouver Island) in Victoria, British Columbia. On August 29, 2011, the TV station was rebranded as CTV 2 Victoria.

Background and news career

Meribeth was born in Sudbury, Ontario and started her journalism career in 1989 reporting for MCTV Sudbury. Later that year Burton become the anchor of the evening news and late news at MCTV Timmins, a post she held until 1993.

Burton then moved to CHEK-TV in Victoria as the weekend anchor. Over her twelve years with the station, she served as anchor of that station's news programs.

In 2004, Meribeth joined A-Channel Vancouver Island as Senior Reporter and back-up anchor until August 2011.[1]

Burton's work has been recognized with numerous RTNDA and CANPRO awards.[citation needed]
