Cinderford inGloucestershire ,England . They were established in 1922 and joined the Western League in 1946. For the 2008-09 season, they are members of theSouthern League Division One South and West .History
Cinderford Town was formed in 1922 and played in the
Gloucester Northern Senior League until 1939. In that year they joined the newly-formed Bristol Charity League but this league folded two weeks later at the outbreak ofWorld War II . In 1957 they won the title but the two seasons they spent in the top flight put severe financial pressure on the club, who were forced to withdraw and return to the Gloucester Northern Senior LeagueThree years later the club made the odd decision to join the Warwickshire Combination and won a league and cup double in 1964, which saw them step up to the
West Midlands (Regional) League .Cinderford returned to play in the newly formed
Gloucestershire County League for the 1969-70 season and stayed for the next five years, finishing as runners-up on three occasions, but again sought a higher standard of football and were accepted into theMidland Football Combination . Town played in this League for the next 10 seasons, achieving a best finish of 4th, before being forced to withdraw and return to the Gloucestershire County League after more financial problems. The 1990-91 season saw the club gain admission to the
Hellenic League , initially in Division One, where they won the league championship at the first attempt. Four years later the club claimed the Premier Division title and stepped up to the Southern League, where they remain to this day.Ground
The Causeway Ground has been floodlit since 1991 when the club took on Birmingham City in a friendly to inaugurate the lights. Until 1994 there was a marked 18-foot slope from corner to corner but this has now been rectified.
There are plans for the club to move from The Causeway to a new ground in Cinderford an area identified is the Steam Mills area of the town.
