The Chicago Diner is a
vegetarian restaurant located on Chicago's north side. It is located in theLakeview (Chicago) neighborhood onHalsted Street . Opened in 1983 by Mickey Hornick and Jo Kauchner, the diner offers all-American style menu items that are strictly vegetarian, and most are suitable forvegans as well. Almost any non-vegan item can be made with vegan substitutions. A few items, such as omelettes, cannot be made vegan. Many of the menu items include faux meat made fromseitan ortofu .
