Harrisongs Ltd. is a music publishing company, founded by
musician andsongwriter George Harrison , a member ofThe Beatles . It is headquartered at 27 Ovington Square in London'sKnightsbridge district, in the same building which housesApple Corps .Harrison's earliest compositions (including "
Don't Bother Me ", his first, which appeared on "With the Beatles " and "Meet the Beatles! ") were published byNorthern Songs , the company set up in1963 byDick James andBrian Epstein on behalf ofJohn Lennon andPaul McCartney , who were the main songwriting Beatles. Harrison andRingo Starr had both signed contracts with Northern Songs, but neither was reportedly satisfied with their subsequent writer's royalties, or perceived low-man status with the company; Harrison wrote "Only a Northern Song " partly to comment on how Northern Songs might handle his latest offering. Harrison and Starr both let their Northern Songs contracts expire in1968 , with Harrison starting Harrisongs and Starr foundingStartling Music .Harrison's new company published his later Beatles tunes, including "
Here Comes the Sun " and "Something ", and his early post-Beatles solo work, including the songs from "All Things Must Pass ". In1973 , Harrison assigned the publishing rights to his newest album, "Living in the Material World ", to the Material World Charitable Foundation, acharitable organization he set up to aid starving countries.His songs from
1974 's "Dark Horse " onwards were originally published byGanga Publishing, B.V. in the United States, andOops Publishing in the United Kingdom and other parts of the world.
