Paul Andrew Daisley (

He spent many days at his grandparents in
Hallaton inLeicestershire . He went to Littlemore School (now the Oxford Academy) inLittlemore , southOxford then Abingdon College inAbingdon . He was an Accounting Officer forTexaco from 1976-84. He was Director of Finance and Administration for a private company, Daisley Associates a company he ran with his father, from 1984-96.Parliamentary career
Daisley was leader of
Brent Council from 1996 until his selection to stand for Parliament in 2001. He succeededKen Livingstone as Labour's candidate for the seat, after Livingstone was expelled for the party and decided to step down at the 2001 election in order to concentrate on his duties asMayor of London . His campaign had Livingstone's backing. His maiden speech in February 2002 was postponed for seven months due to treatment for his cancer spread and at the time of his election he was still seriously ill and only weighed seven stone.Personal life
He died from
colorectal cancer aged 45. In February 2001, he had been in a coma for six weeks. At the subsequent by-election, the safe Labour seat was lost to Liberal DemocratSarah Teather . He married Lesley Jordan in 1984.External links
