They are mostly known for thebee beetle ("Trichius fasciatus").They vary in size from 6 to 65 mm [http://www.inbio.ac.cr/papers/insectoscr/Texto98.html] . The adults feed on sugar-rich secretions of stems, leaves, fruits and flowers of different plants. Most larvae develop in rotten wood.
The Trichiinae are sometimes grouped with the
Cetoniinae subfamily (fruit and flower chafers). However, the Trichiinae are distinguished from the Cetoniidae by having covered epimeres, and the lateral edges of the elytra are not trimmed.pecies
