Women and Economics

Women and Economics

"Women and Economics" is a book by Charlotte Perkins Gilman (also known for "The Yellow Wallpaper"), published in 1898. Not only was it a theoretical analysis of a male-centred culture, it was also a vivid call for women's economic independence. Whilst not endorsing the views of the suffrage movement (believing that it was not crucial to women's independence), she argued that women would truly be free once they had the means to support themselves. This book gave an insight into Gilman's life, and showed that she truly did dedicate much of her time to reform women's role in society.
