Tennessee National Wildlife Refuge

Tennessee National Wildlife Refuge

Tennessee National Wildlife Refuge is a National Wildlife Refuge located along the western shore of the Tennessee River in West Tennessee where the empoundment of Kentucky Lake by the Tennessee Valley Authority has created a more-or-less permanent wetlands environment favored by many species of waterfowl. Also included in the Tennessee NWR is the Duck River Dewatering Area, an intensively-managed waterfowl environment located at the confluence of the Duck River with the Tennessee. The entire refuge area is approximately 51,000 acres (210 km²).
