Annie Whitman

Annie Whitman is a fictional character in the Sweet Valley High and Sweet Valley Senior Year book series.

Character

Annie Whitman is the daughter of Mona Whitman and the step daughter of Walter Thomas and step sister of Cheryl Thomas. Cheryl Thomas appears in the Sweet Valley TV series and is played by Tiffany Hayes.

Annie is introduced in SVH #10, "Wrong Kind of Girl", as a who is desperate to be on the cheerleading squad, many of whom are also introduced for the first time. Her habit of 'falling deeply in love' with every boy she dated has earned her the snide nickname of "Easy Annie" and makes Jessica Wakefield just as desperate to ensure that she never makes it onto the squad. This is one of the many times that she uses her position of power to deny someone their dreams.

Annie performs well during the tryouts but when she is voted onto the squad, Jessica delivered an ultimatum; if Annie is to be on the squad, then Jessica will leave it. The girls choose Jessica and when Annie learns of this, she attempts suicide.

Jessica relents and swears that if Annie pulls through, she will allow her on the squad, which she did. After she recovers, she begins dating the cheerleading manager, Ricky Capaldo.

When that relationship ends, in SVH#21 "Runaway", she dates track star Tony Esteban, who later develops a steroid problem. She helped him by exchanging thesteroids into placebos.
