Tsaritsani (Greek: Τσαριτσάνη) is a new Community in Greece, having separated from the Municipality of
Elassona in 2006. Formerly a municipal district in Elassona, it has a population of 2,507 people (2001 census), and lies in the northwestern part ofLarissa Prefecture , 40 km. fromLarissa . It has a land area of 57.791 km², and consists solely of one town, the town of Tsarítsani.Nearest places

Geography
Its geography includes farmlands in the valley areas, the mountains are around the area as well as grasslands, ledges are to be founded in some areas and barren area in the higher elevations.

It's a beautiful, traditional village at the foot of
Mount Olympus , with many country churches of the PostByzantine period. It is one of the biggest villages of thePrefecture that was at its peak in the16th century . Its mansions are quite remarkable sightseeing.The commune was founded (refounded?) on
March 15 ,2006 under law 3348 in which it separated fromElassona .The town was known as Melouna (Μελούνα) before it was annexed with the rest of
