T. Garry Buckley

T. Garry Buckley is the former Lieutenant Governor of Vermont. He was elected lieutenant governor in 1976 without winning a majority of the vote. He finished second in the general election, but under Vermont law, since neither candidate received a majority, the Vermont General Assembly was empowered to choose a winner. The Republican controlled assembly, chose Buckley, a Republican, for the lieutenant governorship.

Buckley was defeated in the 1978 Republican primary for reelection by Peter P. Smith. In 1980 he lost a bid for the U.S. Senate. He retired and moved from Vermont to Florida.
